Frequently Asked Questions and Fees
What is your fee?
My fee is $250 for a 50-minute individual therapy session and $275 for a 50-minute couples therapy session.
What is your cancellation policy?
I have a 48-hour cancellation policy, which means that if you cancel or reschedule your session 48 or more hours before the appointment time, you will not be charged.
Do you offer online sessions or in-person sessions?
Both! As long as you reside in the state of California, I can see you for therapy. My in-person therapy office is located in Pasadena, CA.
Do you accept insurance?
I do not accept insurance, but you may still be able to use your insurance benefits. I’m considered an out-of-network provider. Contact your insurance company directly and inquire what benefits you have, if you have a deductible that needs to be met, and if your insurance company will provide partial reimbursement. I can provide you with monthly paperwork (i.e., a superbill) to submit to them for reimbursement.
Why don’t you take insurance?
Great question. There are a few answers. One, I want to offer care that’s human, not dictated by a system. Insurance requires me to assign a diagnosis from the DSM (a flawed system rooted in colonialism) which can stick in your medical record. I’m all about de-stigmatizing mental health, but unfortunately, not every system is. You deserve to get support without worrying about how it might follow you in the future.
Insurance is also confusing. It’s often unclear what’s covered, how much you’ll pay, or when you’ll be billed. When you work with me, you get a straightforward fee and a clear agreement. There will be no surprise statements or hours on hold with your insurance company.
Insurance companies also limit what they consider "enough" care. If they decide you only get 12 sessions to work on your anxiety, that’s it, even if we both know you need more time. I don’t believe in rushing healing. We go at your pace, on your terms.
And lastly, I keep a small caseload on purpose. That means I can show up to each session focused, grounded, and fully present with you. No multitasking or typing notes during sessions. I also offer care between sessions; I’ll listen to that podcast episode you really want to talk about, or do research on a particular problem for you. With me, you get care worthy of the premium you’re investing in yourself
Do you offer sliding scale rates?
Yes I do. I believe whole-heartedly that therapy should be accessible. If you cannot afford my full fee, but believe we are a good match for therapy, please contact me and we can discuss your financial situation and how we can make it work.
