Fusing pole dance and therapy to help women heal from trauma

A conversation between Healing Embodied founder Chelsea Horton and myself about using pole dance in therapy. We talk about the internalized shame that women carry about their bodies and their sexuality. We talk about the importance of witnessing other women reclaiming their bodies through sensual movement, as well as the power of healing in a community of supportive women. We also discuss how creativity and pole dance help trauma survivors gain a sense of agency over their bodies and their emotions, and learn to feel safe with discomfort.
